Who stays in a serviced apartment, anyway?

Published on October 4, 2019 by Rebecca Hinshelwood

Are you new to serviced apartments? Do you wonder if you’re the type of person who stays in a serviced apartment? Perhaps you’ve been wondering how it all works. Maybe you tend to shy away from the restrictive regime of many hotel operations. And with recent consumer reports of disruption during Airbnb stays, would you be better off staying in a serviced apartment? Well, the good news is that there is no ‘type’ – serviced apartments are the ultimate in flexible accommodation. We look at all the different times that a serviced apartment is a wonderful solution.

Corporate stays

For corporate travellers, a stay in a serviced apartment removes the extra ‘thinking pressure’ from a trip. A lengthy corporate stay for secondment or a contract is likely to involve pressure in the office. The layer of service that this accommodation provides means that things like laundry, cleaning and even PA support can be provided. All this with the comfort and space that you’d expect in an apartment or even your own home. So just this choice will enable an improved professional performance.

Short business trips

Perhaps you’re just in town for a conference or pitch meeting. There’s no reason that you shouldn’t also benefit from the service on offer at a serviced apartment set up. You won’t have time to fit into hotel timescales and you’ll need to hit the ground running. So the serviced apartment environment gives you the flexibility to grab food on the run and work when you need to.

Relocation

When you relocate, whether for corporate or personal reasons, there exists a strange limbo while you acclimatise to your new home-town-to-be. Perhaps you are going on ahead and the family will follow. A serviced apartment is a great way to manage the transition. An average apartment is around 30% larger than a hotel suite, so you can still keep your home comforts around. At the same time, you can make the most of all the facilities that are included in the apartment while all your belongings are in storage. This is a stressful time, so make the most of the added service to relieve yourself of domestic demands!

Family vacations

There are few things more stressful than trying to contain your children under the disapproving glare of the fellow residents of a hotel! An apartment situation means that your family can enjoy a break or vacation within their own space. After a long day’s entertainment, you can all spread out and relax with meal times that suit your existing family routine. And if you can outsource the laundering of muddy kids clothes, then even better!

City breaks

Short or long breaks to see the sights of London (other cities are available!) are great when based at a serviced apartment. The range of accommodation is based centrally, making your location easily accessible to everything that’s going on. You can also enjoy exploring the hidden parts of the city that can surround your apartment. If you’re out for a long day’s shopping or sight seeing, it’s great to be able to spread out at the end of the day. A concierge service will tell you where to find the best food and entertainment, so there’s no need to trawl Google!

So, whatever the situation that takes you away from home, a stay in a serviced apartment will offer benefits to you. With loads of added benefits and service, you may even be surprised at the value. London is a city best appreciated on the ground. Your apartment makes sure you’re right in the vibrant centre, while services filter out all that is unnecessary!
